What should I bring?

I'll provide a large selection of photographic templates and objects for exposure. You are welcome to bring your own objects and templates with you.

I will provide paper in A5 and A4 size. You are also welcome to bring your own paper for experimenting. It can be a maximum of A4 size (150 - 300g). Colored papers can also produce interesting results.

Will there be a lunch break?

In the workshop for beginners we'll have a lunch break. Close to the studio in Berlin there is a small café, an Arabic takeaway and a Vietnamese restaurant. In Hamburg you have to bring your food.

Can I expose my own photos as a blue print?

Yes. Your photos and templates must be printed out on tracing paper or film. Tracing paper is cheaper and just as good. The motifs must be b+w and inverted, ie. you need a negative! The size ratio is 1:1 (a DIN A4 template results in a DIN A4 picture, etc.).
In a copy shop you should ask for the printout to be as opaque as possible (like for screen printing). In Berlin you can get very good quality and prices at Trigger Copy or Centralstation, for example.

Is the photo chemistry toxic?

The photochemistry is non-toxic to humans. In high concentrations, the chemistry can be harmful to aquatic organisms. Rinsing water should therefore not be disposed of down the drain, but at the BSR ’s pollutant collection points. Private households can hand in small amounts (up to 20 kg) free of charge.

Where do the workshops take place?

In Berlin the workshops take place in a studio with a beautiful view of the Spree. It is located in Schöneweide and is part of a heritage-listed industrial complex.

In Hamburg the garden studio is located in Poppenbüttel with a view onto a natural reserve.

Upon request, the workshops can also take place at your home, at an event location of your choice, or as an open-air event in and around Berlin.

How long does a workshop last?

A workshop lasts 2 to 5 hours, depending on your wishes and content.

Is the workshop suitable for children?

The short workshops are suitable for children aged 6 and over. The longer workshops are suitable for children aged 12 and over when accompanied by an adult.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

In Hamburg you will be able to purchase gift vouchers. They will be available soon.

In Berlin there are no gift vouchers available, but if you have booked a workshop for a fixed date, I can send you a voucher for it so that you can give it away. Unfortunately, this is not possible without a fixed date.
